​Two ladies, one desire to lead a healthy fulfilling life!

​We are two friends who share a mutual interest in using natural products and ingredients in our daily lives.

After several allergic reactions to commercial insect repellents, we looked at making a natural alternative for our own use.
Family and friends started using the repellent, and we began receiving requests as it was proving effective and mild enough to be used on children and babies.  With such a positive reaction, we decided to see if we could create more natural products to help friends and family. Our shampoo, conditioner, body wash and body lotion were the result of more research. These products were such a hit with the family that we decided to take it to market. Akari New Zealand was underway.

Shortly after starting our business, a sister was required to undergo radiation treatment for breast cancer. She reached out to us with a request for something to help with the effects of the radiation such as taught, burnt skin and skin scarring.  Using therapeutic oils, we were delighted to be able to create a serum that proved so efficient it was again taken to market and today assists many people with the same symptoms, amongst other skin ailments. 

Underpinning all this is our firm belief in the beneficial properties of coconut oil, which is the base of many of our products.  The name Akari was both a notable and appropriate name for our range being the Cook Islands word for coconut.
